Clean Harbors receives award from The Salvation Army

Clean Harbors was honored recently by the Salvation Army for their continued support of the organization.

The Salvation Army of Massachusetts awarded Clean Harbors with the Henry Bosworth Award for Excellence in Service, which was created in 2023. The award was presented during the holidays, in a ceremony attended by local dignitaries including Quincy, Massachusetts mayor Thomas Koch.

Henry Bosworth was the creator of the Quincy Sun whose life embodied service to the community and to the Salvation Army. The Bosworth award was created in his honor to recognize people and organizations dedicated to service and supporting their communities through work with the Salvation Army.

Each year, Clean Harbors employees at the corporate office in Norwell partner with the Salvation Army to give gifts to children in need by taking part in the Angel Tree program. As part of the program, gift tags are selected from a tree that list the wants of children in the area. New, unwrapped gifts are then purchased for children of all ages and employees assist Salvation Army staff in assembling the gifts for pickup. Employees then volunteer to help distribute the gifts, along with fresh food and other goods, to the participating families.

Employees from corporate attended the ceremony to receive the Bosworth Award just prior to the conclusion of the Angel Tree program, which coincided with the kick-off of the Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Bell campaign.

“It was an honor to be part of the team to accept this award on behalf of all Clean Harbors employees who selflessly give back to their communities each year, making us all proud,” said Vice President of Community Engagement and Public Affairs Donna Ayer. “Partnering with organizations like the Salvation Army is essential as we continue to expand and strengthen our community outreach efforts.”
