About The Lambton Facility
Hazardous waste is a fact of modern life. From medicines to cosmetics, from packaged foods and beverages—to paint, fertilizer, rubber and plastics—all the products that nurture our lifestyle generate hazardous waste as part of their production and consumption. The generation of this material is inevitable, and Canadian law has mandated that it be contained and managed in a responsible fashion to protect Canada's environment. For almost three decades, Clean Harbors has provided its expertise to government, business, industry and local communities to ensure that North America's productive economy is in balance with a healthy environment.
Clean Harbors maintains a network of more than 150 service centres across Canada and the United States, as well as locations in Mexico and Puerto Rico. The Company provides a broad range of environmental services including hazardous and non-hazardous waste transportation and disposal, laboratory chemical packing, emergency response, field services, energy and industrial services.
An innovative leader, Clean Harbors is committed to preserving our natural environment and adhering to strict government regulations. Our customers include more than 325 of the Fortune 500 companies; many major utilities, oil, pharmaceutical and chemical companies; the high tech and biotech industries; and numerous local, state, provincial and federal government agencies.
Clean Harbors has taken the lead in identifying the most efficient, environmentally sound options for waste management. We own and operate over 50 waste management facilities, which provide a wide range of recycling, incineration, landfill and treatment options. These facilities have been rigorously tested and approved by government environmental regulators to ensure the safe handling of waste with minimal risk or liability.
The Lambton facility, located in Lambton County, Ontario, is part of the Clean Harbors network of waste treatment and disposal locations. Incorporating modern high-temperature incineration, secure landfill disposal, an analytical laboratory and specialized transportation services, the Lambton facility is the only government-licensed hazardous waste management complex in Ontario, and is a state-of-the-art treatment and disposal centre for waste generators across the Great Lakes region.
With highly skilled staff and access to a broad, flexible range of waste management solutions, the Lambton facility provides safe, environmentally secure waste management services to Ontario industries and all levels of government.
Serving the Great Lakes Region
Located near the Ontario/Michigan border, the Lambton facility's primary service area encompasses the Great Lakes region.
The facility began accepting waste on a regional basis in the early 1970s in response to the needs of major industrial customers, such as the automotive industry, who were already moving toward a North American rather than country-specific business model. This approach was supported by federal government agreements, such as the North American Free Trade Agreement. Today, the Lambton facility serves a wide range of Canadian and U.S. consumer, government and industry needs, and provides numerous Ontario municipalities with disposal services for household hazardous waste.
