The baghouse, the final step in the high-temperature incinerator's cleaning process, plays an important role in ensuring that the Lambton facility's emission levels comply with Ontario's clean air regulations.
The baghouse at Lambton has four compartments, each housing more than 400 fabric filter bags. As the air stream passes through the bags, powder-fine particles are filtered out, ensuring that they are not released into the environment.
Clean emissions require a clean baghouse. Each baghouse compartment at Lambton is regularly taken offline for cleaning. Once offline, jets of air are blasted into each bag to remove the dust particles that collect on their surfaces. The dust particles are removed through a fully enclosed conveyor system, located along the base of the baghouse. As a result, particulate levels at Lambton are so low that current test methods are barely able to detect them.
