The Lambton facility's continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) system is among the first of its kind in the country, meeting stringent new certification standards established by Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.
Lambton's sensors automatically monitor and record conditions at each step of the treatment process, from waste feed to exhaust. The CEM system ensures that the incinerator is operating well within regulatory compliance standards and maintaining optimum performance. If the CEM system senses that any operation has exceeded its normal, safe range of activity, it will automatically cut off the injection of waste and shut down the entire incineration unit for inspection.
The CEM technology at Lambton provides analytical results almost three times faster than previous systems, and is designed to withstand the 180°C (356°F) heat generated by the stack air.
